WESTERN ISLES LIB DEMS SELECT DR JEAN DAVIS TO FIGHT NA H-EILEANAN AN IAR AT THE GENERAL ELECTION2.11.19pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 20th Dec 2004
Dr Jean Davis has been selected to fight Na h-Eileanan an Iar Constituency for the Scottish Liberal Democrats at the General Election. A resident of Marybank, she works as an independent provider of Occupational Health Advice. She is also the 'Choose Life' suicide prevention co-ordinator for the Western Isles. For more than three years she as been a Volunteer Advisor at Lewis Citizens Advice Bureau, and is currently a member of the Board of WICAS. She is a Case Worker for SSAFA Forces Help. Jean Davis spent her childhood in the north of England. She was educated at Maghull Grammar School and qualified as a Doctor of Medicine at Manchester University. Dr Davis worked in Health and Safety Management with ICI and Astra Zeneca. A founder member of the Liberal Democrats in the 1980's she is secretary of the Western Isles Branch. Welcoming the selection of Dr Davis, Charles Kennedy, Liberal Democrat Party Leader said, "We are fortunate to have a prospective candidate of the calibre of Jean Davis."
