New Chair for GBTF

Following a successful term as Chair, Sandra Gidley MP has stepped down and the Federal Executive have elected Baroness Harris of Richmond to succeed her.

Baroness Harris is well known throughout the Party as a former Chief Steward for Federal Conference and was herself a candidate in the Euro Elections in 1999. Created a Life Peer in 1999, Angie Harris has chaired the European Union Select Sub-committee F and has been a Whip. A former County Councillor in Yorkshire, she remains active in the County as well as in Westminster.

On her election as Chair Angie says 'I am delighted to be able to continue with the good work started by Sandra Gidley and her team. Much progress has been made in promoting the issue of women candidates and it is one that I am passionate about. Particular thanks must go to Sandra for her hard work, which has resulted in an increase in women coming forward to become candidates.

Sandra Gidley will remain on the Task Force as the Spokesperson for Women.
