Campaign for Gender Balance: Introduction

It's easy to agree that there are too few women MPs (just 1 in 5 overall, and only 1 in 7 among Lib Dem MPs), but if you want to change that, what can you do?

The Campaign for Gender Balance brings together people in the Lib Dems who want to make a difference. Whether you are a man or a woman, we need your help. Sign up to receive updates from us (see below) and support our work. Encourage women you know who would be good candidates to bite the bullet and go for it - and let us know about them so we can offer support every step of the way.

If you are a woman thinking about your next steps in politics, get in touch with us and we will talk you through the processes, giving advice, training and practical help. We can increase women's representation - with your help.

Tonbridge and Malling Liberal Democrats select Liz Simpson Wed 11th Jun 2008 Tonbridge and Malling Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that Liz Simpson was elected as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. The well known Tonbridge and Malling Borough Councillor, was unanimously elected at the hustings at the Angel Centre, Tonbridge.

Sal Brinton speaks to Womens Parliamentary Radio Mon 9th Jun 2008 Sal Brinton, PPC for Watford and CGB trainer, has been interviewed by Women's Parliamentary Radio about becoming a PPC in the Liberal Democrats. The interview contains advice and tips that women need to help them get selected for a seat, as well as an insight into the role of a PPC in a winnable seat.

CGB and WLD support Elizabeth Shenton in Crewe Tue 20th May 2008 Elizabeth Shenton is fighting hard to win in Crewe and Nantwich on 22nd May, and the Campaign for Gender Balance and Women Liberal Democrats are giving her as much support as possible. On Saturday 10th May, CGB and WLD supporters turned up at the HQ in Crewe for an 'action day', assisting with the efforts to make Elizabeth the tenth female Lib Dem MP! Many thanks to everyone who attended the day.
